Karen Barth Menzies is proud to be the featured guest on a recent episode of “enough.” a groundbreaking podcast hosted by Kendra Sheetz and Rich Gill dedicated to empowering survivors of abuse, harassment, and assault in the music industry by providing them a platform to share their stories in their own words.

Sheetz is a writer, photographer, and avid music lover who owns and operates Bad Copy, a music site focused on Punk and Indie bands. Gill is a trained sexual assault advocate and the Program Director of the Sound Unseen Film + Music Festival.

On the podcast, Karen discussed how she is advocating for survivors’ rights, ensuring that their voices are heard and respected in legal battles often overshadowed by powerful industry figures.

“We are actively engaged in a community of survivors, dedicated to supporting those who seek justice and accountability,” said Karen. “It is our privilege to be a voice in that conversation and to help elevate other voices.”

Karen provided her experience working on a variety of sexual assault cases in the music industry, including the reasons why survivors often reach out for help.

“Survivors gain the courage enough to speak out because it is a start to their healing process, so they can take back control of the control that was taken from them by the predator,” Karen stated. “Survivors fundamentally want accountability because if the predator takes accountability, then that must mean hopefully that they won’t do it again.”

The podcast also discussed uplifting survivor voices, recognizing predator patterns, and creating meaningful change in the music industry and beyond.
