KBM is Proud to Represent Kristina Sarhadi in sexual assault lawsuit

As originally reported in Rolling Stone, Kristina Sarhadi has filed a lawsuit against Justin Sane (frontman of the punk rock band Anti-Flag) for sexual assault under New York’s Adult Survivors Act. The lawsuit also names the band’s distribution company, which includes other band members.

“The decision to file a lawsuit takes great courage and is often not possible for so many survivors of sexual assault,” says Sarhadi’s attorney, Karen Barth Menzies. “Accountability is only attainable when survivors stand up for themselves and each other.”

Sarhadi, a Holistic Psychotherapist, Reiki Master, published author, and social worker with 15 years of experience, recently spoke publicly about being assaulted. Afterward, she heard from many women claiming to have similar experiences.

“Many of the women I spoke with had reservations about going public with their stories or filing a lawsuit, and some couldn’t file because of the way the law was written, and I realized that I was in a unique position to demand justice, not just for myself, but for other survivors. Sexual predators won’t stop unless they face consequences for their behavior,” said Sarhadi.

“I advocate for these brave clients to promote accountability and work toward cultural change,” stated Menzies. “Stories of the victims I represent, including Kristina, should prompt all in the music industry to reflect and reform the historical normalization of sexual coercion and assault.”
